The Women's Center

"The mission of The Women’s Center is to significantly improve the mental health and well-being of all members of the community through counseling, education, support and advocacy.

The Women’s Center was founded over forty years ago, when people like you wrapped their arms around women who were facing some of life’s most difficult challenges, and walked with them on their journey into a brighter future. In the decades that followed, The Women’s Center grew larger, to include mental health counseling, and opened a second office in Washington, DC. Continuously responding to community need, we developed expertise in aiding victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, now serving over 700 people experiencing this trauma and violence annually. Further, our outreach expanded to serving 4,000 women, men and children from all over the metropolitan region."

"The mission of Homestretch is to empower homeless families with children living in Virginia to attain permanent housing and self-sufficiency by giving them the skills, knowledge and hope they need to become productive participants in the community.

Since our inception in 1990, we have assisted over 1,000 families to achieve stability and self-sufficiency. The aim is to surround the homeless families with such vigorous supports that they can address the multiple barriers in their path and make as dramatic progress as possible while they are in Homestretch."

“By giving them a place to live, their temporary homelessness is addressed; by giving them the tools to become self-sufficient, their poverty is ended. Homestretch aims to go deeper than merely providing housing; we address the fundamental causes of poverty for each family we serve.” – Christopher Fay, Homestretch Executive Director are inclusiveness.

The Malala Fund

"Inspired by co-founders Malala and Ziauddin Yousafzai, Malala Fund's goal is to enable girls to complete 12 years of safe, quality education so that they can achieve their potential and be positive change-makers in their families and communities. We work with partners all over the world helping to empower girls and amplify their voices; we invest in local education leaders and programs; and we advocate for more resources for education and safe schools for every child."
